What do 7th and 8th Grade Arlington students say?

Bullying occurs:

. . . because people want to be popular and they make fun of other people to get to be it (popular).

. . . because they want to cover up their own problems so others will focus on someone else and they won't get made fun of.

. . . because they think they are better and more powerful.

. . . because they don't feel good about themselves.

. . . because they are jealous.

. . . because they want to be popular and to impress their friends.

. . . because they think it is cool and fun.

. . . because that is the way they feel good about themselves. It is a way of showing they are stronger than the next person.

. . . because they may have own problems and bullying helps distract from their problems.

. . . because it makes them feel superior and better than others.

. . . because they want attention.

. . . because they don't like who they are and they don't think very highly of themselves so they do it to make themselves feel superior.

. . . because they think it is funny.

. . . because they don't feel secure themselves.
